4 days to go and my bags are not packed.  My Oz dollars have not arrived at RBC and my tickets are still getting sorted out.  Oh dither.

Income Tax - PEI style Tuesday, April 29, 2003

I did my last PEI income taxes today.  I was surprised to see that I had to fill out mirroring forms to calculate PEI’s cut.  I finsihed up a degree in 2002 so I got to claim expenses.  [Used to be one did their Federal taxes and just calculated provincial as a simple percent of the federal.] I was happy to see that under Federal tax rules, I get a $400.00 per month tax credit.  Under PEI, however, I only get $200.00.  So lets review.  PEI decides it needs its own income tax bureaucrats.  So it needs to set lower tax credits to pay for the bureaucrats.  And the tax it cuts is the one which encourages education.  Why need edjeekated people if you can get a gov’ment job - as long as you openly support the governing party that is!

How strange - referrer list indicates that MSN sent someone searching for “high protein breakfasts” to my door.

So… Tuesday, April 29, 2003

And another thing… Saturday, April 26, 2003

I’m travelling to Sarsville (I mean Toronto) tonight for a week-long visit with family.

So you can forget about thinking I finally went away......I’ll be back.

pei.cbc.ca Saturday, April 26, 2003

{Warning: gratuitous bitchfest follows...}

So, I wrote this article yesterday, “Flap, Flap, Flapping again...”.  I linked to the CBC’s on-line story with the words, “flap, flap, flap...”.  This morning the link still works, but leads to an altered article on the same subject.  In fact, it is a very *different* article.  Whoever posts these articles has a habit of revamping them and reposting them as though they were the original ones, with no notification they did that.

Nobody seems to want to claim any journalistic responsibility on that site.  All articles are “WebPosted...”.  If I were doing this “webposting” on pei.cbc.ca, I wouldn’t want my name associated with it either!

Who ever re-authored that article eliminated a passage I quoted in mine.  The link to the re-authored article should have either been broken, or notification that the article has been re-written made clear.

A couple of Engrisch classes and a dictionary might be helpful as well!

And don’t get me going about canada.com/charlottetown (the Guardian’s on-line presence).

Perhaps it’s all “just me”.  Maybe, some day, I’ll just go away.

I still can’t see what an “open” sign has to do with some country’s flag?  I suppose I just don’t have all that time on my hands, with nothing better to do than make up issues to complain about - must be nice to be able to afford such wastefulness......

Flag Flap Flapping yet again. Friday, April 25, 2003

flap, flap, flap...

IMHFO, this flag with the word “OPEN” printed on it is NO MORE and NO LESS than just a flag with the word “OPEN” printed on it.  It is ***NOT*** the freaking flag of the Netherlands.  The flag of the Netherlands DOES NOT have the word “OPEN” printed on it - last I saw it in any case.

I have seen these Open flags ( not the flags of the Netherlands) for a very long time, and all I’ve ever thought about them is:

‘OK, that place is (get ready) OPEN!’

I never *once* - not even one time thought:

‘I wonder what country’s flag that is?’

It’s a fucking “open” sign - get over it!!!!!!

And furthermore, as if idiots crawling out of the woodwork to complain about absolutely nothing is not enough to drive one into fits of psychotic drooling:  to quoteth from the article:

“The flag flap is heading for the floor of the Island Legislature later this spring. MLAs hope even opening a debate will convince some businesses to abandon the offending flags.”

Oh my, I tremble with shock and awe as words may be spoken in the legislature.  That alone always brings me to spiritual awakenings.  By simply uttering words, the Tories will inspire quite possibly instantaneous compliance.

Usually, when foul air is vented into a room, I’m looking for the nearest freaking EXIT, *not* thinking about getting on a band wagon with a bunch of morons who have nothing better to do than to make up problems out of the vast nothingness of their intellects.  If they want problems THAT badly, are willing to sign off liability to me, and PAY me LOTS of money, I’d consider giving them some REAL problems to deal with.

Otherwise, please get a grip, people.  An open sign is not the flag of a country.  It really is that simple.

Class dismissed.  Do not play in the hallways on your way out to recess!

Spring Friday, April 25, 2003

The swamp frogs sang last night - it is now officially spring.

Glad to hear private garbage hauler can expect compensation Thursday, April 24, 2003

“Well the Martells have experienced a major decline in income because the resource that was available to them all of the sudden wasn’t,” says Binns. “Whether it’s licensing or some other difficulty, there has been a change in their situation. I think they should have the right to explain that to a higher level body and have an independent review of their situation take place.”
