Tonight you need to be scared; you need to get your butts out of New Orleans now,’’ Mayor Ray Nagin said at a press conference late yesterday. ``This is the mother of all storms. I am not sure we have seen anything like it.

faces Monday, August 18, 2008

When you are around German Sheps, the face will always give away the temperament:

Wise old Mr. Que:

The Bitch Princess, Dax - top pack dog:

The goof, Trek, who always seems to have an expression that says “who, me”:

Roschka, who actually thinks she can displace Dax as top dog - very silly pup.

riding 101 Monday, August 18, 2008

I assumed most riders knew this, but having a rider go down in front of me this weekend, it is probably worth repeating.  Painted highway lines get (more) slippery than the rest of the road, when wet.  If you are riding on wet highways it is good practice to avoid braking while your motorcycle tires are on the painted area.

set the stage Saturday, August 09, 2008

Trek is 100 lbs and at age 2, he is in his absolute prime.  He also is an intact male which means, for the uninformed, he still has his balls.

He is also as nice an example of the German dog as I have seen, but alas he is imperfect.  He has a floating bone chip in his knee and it is a known genetic flaw.  Breeders with less scruples, would use him for breeding, but we will not.  Thus he will have the bone chip removed and while under for that surgery he will lose his balls.

We have also introduced a 6 month old fertile female to the pack.  Trek has noticed and is behaving somewhat aggressively to the others in the pack.

We talk to our dogs much as we talk to anyone else and the conversations seem natural enough to us.

There - the stage is set.

While working in my office this morning, heard a commotion upstairs.  As I climbed the stairs, I hear Herself say to Trek (and she had steel in her voice), ”you keep that up and I will wack the nuts off you right now”.

It seemed perfectly natural to quietly turn around and go back down the stairs.

You dumped Microsoft Internet Explorer long ago - but just in case you have not;

Here is another reason to change.

stop the press Wednesday, August 06, 2008

My RSS aggregator just started to ping and told me of a news release from CBC.  It has been reported that Bruce Rainee will not be covering the Olympics in China due to kidney stones.

Other astonishing news is coming out of Anglo Rustico, where it is reported that Ms Gallant is suffering from a hangnail.

I am not sure how much excitement this old heart can stand.
