On Sunday last I had the pleasure of sharing coffee and conversation with Alastair, the owner, webmaster and all around ‘head-guy’ of Electric Scotland. If you have even remote interest in Scotland you will not find a better resource to satisfy your curiosity. If you have a stereotype image of a dour Scot, Al will cause you to wad it up in a little ball and throw it away. He absolutely bubbles with charm and personality.
As he explores PEI and some of our Scot tradition and heritage he is chronicling his journey here

Hello everyone… it was great meeting Craig the other day and I’m already enjoying my wee adventure on Prince Edward Island. As Craig said I am doing a wee journal about my adventures on the island and am more than happy to be corrected on any impressions I offer.
One thing I feel I can say is that problems of declining population and the cost of maintaining an increasingly aged population and many other comments I’ve read in the local paper makes me feel I am back in Scotland. We do indeed have all the same problems so you are not alone by any means.
I am hoping to explore the island in some detail while I am here and learn more about the island and hopefully get to meet many people while I am here. So.. if you meet a car coming at you on the wrong side of the road that might well be myself so please don’t should too loudly

Since my golf trip to Ayr, Lock Lommand and St. Andrews, I have been looking forward to my next trip to Scotland...maybe next time to track down my lineage from some sheep-stealers who once called Lock Ness home.
I found myself quite at home amongst some of the friendliest people I have ever met during that trip, and wish the same pleasant experience for you while in Canada. Sounds like you are on the right track.

Hi Wayne… I am indeed enjoying excellent hospitality here on PEI and everyone has been most welcoming and freely giving of their time to talk with me.
Mind you seems most of the island is populated by the Celtic races so hospitality is likely assured as it is in Scotland [grin]
