Those of us who love taking long motorcycle trips, usually leave someone behind who is worrying about our well being. On (partial) solution is Spot. This little device talks to a satellite every 10 minutes or so, and then the data is written to a Google Map that is available for viewing. A good friend is on an extended ride, and I have been watching his progress. It appears he is headed toward home after 3 weeks on the road:

I suspect if we’d had Spot on our most recent SA adventure he would have needed little life boats.
